Blogging

Blogging has been useful in many areas:

Business: Wal-Mart employees successfully blog about, well, anything. In addition to discussing every day info, the Wal-Mart bloggers talk about products available (or soon to be available) in stores. The bloggings have been used by buyers to help understand consumer rants/raves.

Celebrity: The likes of Paris Hilton, etc. have used blogging to tell the "truth" and dispute all the garbage printed in tabloids (and other celebrity fan blogs). It has been a great way for the celebs to connect to their fans - in a real way.

Political: Blogging is increasingly becoming an open forum to discuss politics. Its the alternative to the usual news folks: ABC, NBC, Fox, etc. And perhaps more open because there aren't any producers to please.

Neighborhood Watch: Neighbors helped get rid of some pesky drug abusers by discussing the situation on a Brooklyn Blog. Lesson learned: blogging provides an easy way to talk about problems without disclosing your identity.
